![]() ![]() It's effectiveness far exceeds that of medications or any competing interventions. Since it's inception, CBT-I has gone on to become the most effective behavioral intervention for any health problem in history. ![]() Gregg Jacobs at the Harvard Medical School. The CBT-I program was developed and is run by Dr. I am not a neuroscientist or researcher, but I am one of the few certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapists for Insomnia (CBT-I) in the country. So people that slept more than 8 hours experienced mortality hazard comparable to people who slept less than 6 hours. Kripke's nation-wide survey (n=1.1 million) found that more than 7 hours of sleep was associated with higher mortality hazard. ![]() The most comprehensive research shows that, on average, the brain appears to be optimized for about 7 hours of sleep and more than that can be detrimental. So I am about to complicate things further. He just gives anyone the argument to say: "yeah I'm this Chronotype, I only need 4 hours of sleep, even the expert said the 8hours sleep a night is a myth."īut maybe they aren't that opposed, do I misunderstand something?Īlso I think it's hard to trust the Mindvalley commercial, cause its so markety.ĮDIT: correct formality: Dr. That's why I'm so concerned about seeing the commercial of Dr. I think many adults and teens get severe problems due to our society treating sleep like its a luxury. I think that our society is treating sleep very poorly.Īnd it's somewhat the first thing to minimize o we get "more" out of our days. The fall of concentration performance started with being awake for 15 hours. The foundings were after being awake 19h your mental performance is as bad as you're drunk with a level of 0.08%. Walker also refers to an Australian researcher who researched how many hours a human can be awake without losing performance. He found, that u at least need 7-8h a night but more than 7 hours are necessary. I can see the idea that everybody is different and has somewhat different sleep needs and Walker also touches on that. And says that he is fine with 6:30h a night. He categorizes humans into 4 Chronotypes. He states, that everybody has different sleep needs. He also states that sleep deprivation is the number one cause of drowsy-driving accidents. Walker's research shows, as stated by him, that even after a week of 7 hours of sleep a night your performance in concentration decreases so drastically that it equates to being awake for 24hours nonstop. My problem here is, that I think they disagree heavily on the number of hours of sleep a human needs. Now I stumbled across the "Mindvalley"- commercial with Dr. I liked it a lot and found it really interesting. I read the book of Matthew Walker "Why we sleep" a while ago. ![]()
